Introducing a new series from Heather Lawson
Welcome to what will be the first of many monthly posts on all things related to mental health here at HIKE for Mental Health. Hello! I am Heather Lawson, a National Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor and lover of hiking and the great outdoors. My goal is to bring you helpful and relevant educational information on various topics concerning mental health. Not only do I want to educate, I also want to provide you with resources on how to help end the stigma surrounding mental health. After all, mental health IS health.
In the coming months, you can expect to see content on the latest research from our partner organization Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the important role nature plays in mental health, psychoeducation on specific mental health issues, as well as tips, tools, and resources to help you or a loved one who may be struggling with a mental health issue.
I am so excited to be volunteering in this role with HIKE for Mental Health. I am passionate about mental health, mental health advocacy & research, and the conservation of our country’s beautiful outdoor spaces. It is my hope you will find hope, help, and healing in some way through these posts.
Now… go take a hike!
