Years ago I hiked up and down this mountain with my Dad. I treasure my memories of those hikes. Since then I have allowed my physical condition to deteriorate. Now my Son is about the age I was when I hiked the mountain with my Dad. I want to get in shape this summer so I can share the mountains with my Son.
The vegetation changes and eventually when you stop for a moment and turn around there are no trees, and instead there is (on a sunny day) the whole vast mold-green landscape, rough like the surface of a stormy sea but frozen in place, solid.
The earth is not a parking lot yet. This part of paradise shall not be paved.
