2023 is our 5th year participating in the Hike for Mental Health organization’s annual #hikeOctober fundraising event, and we couldn’t be more excited!!! It was especially important for me to participate in the #hikeOctober fundraiser this year because the last 12 months I have been dealing with a lot of stress, anxiety, and minor depression in my own life, and the one thing that seems to have helped get me through it all is spending time on the trail. I imagine I’m not the only person that feels this way, so let’s share the campaign far and wide, and bring awareness to the great things that the Hike for Mental Health organization can accomplish with our help!!
Last year our community was able to bring in an nearly $1400 worth of fundraising to support mental health research and trail conservation efforts across the country, and I think we can do it again this year, but WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you’re able, please donate any amount of money you can spare for such a worthy cause. Not able to donate any money this year? That’s ok, sign up and start your own fundraiser to raise awareness among your friends and family. Remember, every little bit helps!!
If you’re interested in our previous years’ adventures for the #hikeOctober fundraiser, please head on over to Jay Morrison Outdoors on YouTube, click on the Playlists tab, and check out our #hikeOctober videos! In 2021, we also put out a daily Mental Health Minute video series that you can check out as well!

I love this. It’s great that you guys do this every year. It’s so important to reduce suffering, decrease stigma, and increase awareness. As a fellow human with a mental illness, hiking has been vital to maintaining and occasionally improving my mental health. To all those who are suffering: It is okay not to be okay. You are not alone. There is hope. Help is available. For suicide and crisis hotline (24/7) call or text 988.
You are good person Jay. You do good things. The world needs good things.
Attention to mental health struggles is vitally important, and being in the wilderness one great option for many to feel more settled.
Thank you for doing this! I work with schools and witness everyday the need for more research and support around behavioral and mental health!!
Love that you continue to do this. Looking forward to finally meeting you tomorrow! Keep up the great work for a great cause!
