Footsteps of Freedom: 5,000 KM Mental Fitness Journey to UTMB World Series Finals in The Alps
I’m taking a bit of a different approach to a hike because, for many of us, it’s about more than just a hike. It’s an ultra-marathon of facing challenges and choosing hope. That’s why I’m committing to the footsteps necessary to cover 5,000 kilometers, training and participating in the UTMB World Series, the leading trail-running circuit in the world. My ultimate goal? Trail-running the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, 171 KM (106 Miles) spanning diverse and technical trails through France, Italy, and Switzerland.
My journey is a tribute to the transformative power of moving forward, even through the toughest terrains. It began on the hiking trails, where I discovered the first hints of freedom. I learned that as long as you keep moving, other things in life can fall into place. Often, we attempt to align everything perfectly before taking that first step, but I’ve found that if you take those courageous footsteps through fear, you’ll uncover the path to freedom.
Each footfall signifies my commitment to promoting mental fitness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. You can track my progress in the UTMB World Series through My UTMB Athlete Public Page. Additionally, follow my journey on Instagram at @theonlyjonathanmoody.
This campaign isn’t just about trail-running; it’s about finding freedom in the midst of fear, seeking hope when the path is uncertain, and demonstrating that resilience is a journey, not a destination. Together, let’s make every step count towards a world where each footstep symbolizes hope, resilience, and lasting change.
Join me in my goal to raise $2 for each KM I run, walk, or hike on my trail to UTMB. I have several goal trail-races as part of this journey, including the Western States Endurance Run, a 100-mile race in June 2024, along the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT), and other races (including a 100K UTMB World Series race) that I’ll announce on Instagram. Together, let’s go on a journey of 5,000 KM (3,100 Miles) to raise $10,000 for Hike for Mental Health, symbolizing that ‘You Never Walk Alone.’
Will you be a part of the movement to reduce the stigma of mental health, promote authenticity, and provide support to all those daring to step forward? Thank you for considering a donation to this cause in an amount significant to you and please reach out to me on Instagram or JonathanMoodyOnTrail@gmail.com if you’re interested in collaborating to raise awareness for mental health, mental fitness and the healing many of us find in the outdoors. Help me make each footstep a symbol of hope and solidarity. Together, we remind the world that ‘You Never Walk Alone.’
